lucy’s edmonton advocates project (leap)

Since 2006, various animal welfare organizations have tried and failed to send Lucy to a sanctuary.

In 2015, an organization called Lucy’s Edmonton Advocates Project (LEAP) was formed, and is solely dedicated to sending Lucy to a sanctuary.

LEAP organizes local events in Edmonton to support their initiative and provides regular updates on Lucy’s health.

Take action by asking Edmonton City Council to retire Lucy to a sanctuary.

In Defense of Animals

In Defense of Animals is an international animal protection organization with over 250,000 supporters and a history of fighting for animals, people, and the environment through education and campaigns, as well as hands-on rescue facilities in California, India, South Korea, and rural Mississippi since 1983.

In Defense of Animals works to heighten public awareness and inspire action to save elephants from lifetimes in captivity. Its annual 10 Worst Zoos for Elephants list exposes zoo failings and raises the profile of captive elephant suffering. Its efforts have aided in the decision by 43 zoos to permanently close their elephant exhibits, and helped to release a number of elephants from circuses and zoos to sanctuaries.
